The Ontario Fire Service Pipes and Drums is the first pipes and drums corps ever for the Ontario Fire Service. Members of the Band outside Hamilton's International Tatoo where they performed on June 12 & 13, 2004 Formed in late 1997, the current band stands at 15 pipers and drummers with membership coming from across Ontario. The band members, who play solely for the love of it, rehearse each Wednesday night at Scott Hall at the Ontario Fire College, in Gravenhurst, Ontario. The band can be requested to perform at all types of fire service events, although it vows to remain strictly apolitical. This non-profit group is available to all fire departments to provide an identifiable presence at funeral services for fallen firefighters, fire hall openings, and dedications. memorial services, graduation ceremonies, medal investitures and other ceremonies. There is no event too large or too small. The band has appeared at several medal investitures and is an annual feature at the Memorial Service at the Ontario Fire College each October. The Ontario Fire Service Pipes and Drums is supported by the Ontario Fire Marshal, Bernard Moyle and the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs.
