Longtime GVFDMayor presents plaque Volunteer John Black has announced his retirement from the department effective the end of June. Black, who has served the last six years as our Deputy Chief, has accepted a position as Fire Chief for the Municipality of North Huron in western Ontario. Black began his local firefighting career in 1985 and has served as Firefighter, Captain, Platoon Chief and Deputy Chief during his 24 years with the department. During our Commisisioning Ceremony on Wednesday evening, Mayor John Klinck and members of Town Council presented Black with a plaque recognizing his contribution to the community through the department. Gravenhurst's firefighters also presented Black with a framed painting .
