I | Thou shalt abstain from using water unwisely. For verily the hose in thine hand and what was in it, commeth not to thine aid when thou needest them the most. | II | Thou shalt not neglect traffic control, lest thou become like unto ground sirloin. | III | Ignorest thou not thy training. For many are the nozzles, ladders, pumps and other demons awaiting to take cruel vengeance upon thee. | IV | Thou shalt cast thine eyes to thy right and also to thy left before thou passeth through the intersection, lest thy fellow firefighters bring flowers to thy widow and comfort her in other ways. | V | Thou shalt be ever mindful of thy air supply lest there be nothing in thy cylinder to sustain thee and thy days be made short. | VI | Trust not only thine eyes to lead thee through smoke lest the Archangel Gabriel await thee therein. | VII | Thou shalt not trespass into a backdraft lest the tempest therein rend thy limbs from thy body and cast thee naked unto the firmament. | VIII | Put not thy trust in firehall prophets for when the truth is not in them they shalt not accompany thee among thy ancestors. | IX | Oft shalt thou confirm thy speed while responding lest the earth or other things rise up and smite thee. | X | Abstaineth not from thy part of thy team for this shall surely incur the wrath of thy fellows and the fury of the Chief shalt be called down upon thy head. |
