The fire happened, the fire department arrived and put out the flames but the effects of a fire can take a long time for people to deal with. While we come to help our residents and visitors at the height of the emergency, we're also focussed on how they will recover. Whether it is the family home or a local business, it is important to work together to help everyone heal from this very devastating event. The Gravenhurst Volunteer Fire Department provides valuable information and contacts to help you cope after a fire. We work closely with Muskoka Victim Services and The Salvation Army to ensure that victims receive the care and support they need.
Provided here are some basics on what to do after a fire as well as a list of support services in and around the community that can be of assistance to you.

This should include such items as: Casue of the loss, names and addresses of those with interests in the property, building plans, detailed estimate for repairs, a list of damaged items and any receipts for additional living expenses and loss of use.
Notify Your Mortgage Company - Let them know of the fire and keep them informed of what is going on to restore the property. They own a portion of the building and are interested in seeing their investment handled properly.
