The Gravenhurst Volunteer Fire Department

Application

We're always looking for a few good people to join our ranks. All that is required is is to be a minimum of 18 years of age, in good physical health, able to pass a police background check, have 24 hour transportation available and have a willingness to learn. All the training you require, from CPR and First Aid through your Class DZ driver's license will be provided by the department.

There is no monetary compensation for being a volunteer firefighter. We are volunteers and spend our time and energies providing a valuable community service to the residents and visitors to our town. What you will receive is a monthly expense amount designed to offset your costs in volunteering to be a firefighter. This amount is to cover gas, clothing repairs and cleaning and other incidentals.

Our firefighters are covered under Workmen's Compensation from the Workers Safety and Insurance Board and receive On Duty Accident and Sickness Benefit coverage from Volunteer Firemen's Insurance Services (VFIS). They also receive 24 hour Accident and Sickness Benefit coverage for them and their immediate family at no cost to the firefighter.

Please download our application from the link below and drop it into the Town of Gravenhurst Municipal Office at 190 Harvie Street, Gravenhurst, P1P 1S9. Or you can deliver it in person to the department at Station One on any Wednesday evening throughout the year between 7 and 9 p.m. at the same address.
